If you think the art of storytelling is a powerful branding tool reserved for only the creatives, well, it’s time to rethink your stance. As you may already know (a modest assumption, I hope), designing bespoke illustrations are my craft, passion and of course, expertise. The way I see it, illustrations are all about problem solving and simplifying your message in a way that will resonate and connect your brand to your target audience. We all know imagery to be a compelling source of marketing. However, did you know illustrations can also be another way of upping the ante when it comes to capturing attention and follow-up interest?

Ideally, illustrations can be the perfect companion to your story and transcend the power of words by connecting to a universal audience.

 

Why bespoke Illustrations can be powerful for you?

 

Throughout history, illustrations have been used as a narrative to tell stories. When the cave man wanted to share what he had for dinner, he grabbed his stick and illustrated it. This simple method of storytelling spans the test of time. So much so, it has been integrated into our everyday lives in ways that we may not have consciously noticed; but has had a subliminal effect on our consumer experience.

My belief is that your brand’s story is unique and deserves to be communicated in an authentic way, rather than a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. When it comes to stock art or photography, although it’s more convenient, it’s also generic and there is no knowing how many other brands are also using the same imagery. Fair to say, this is not quite the brand statement I assume you want to make.

This is not to say that there is no place for photography in your marketing. In fact, I believe the best campaigns include a happy medium of both high-quality photos and videos as well as relevant illustrations that align your message and story.
