My love for art and all things that connected me to this innate form of expression stems from my childhood. As a little girl I had a fascination for drawing and painting, I especially loved making things that I didn’t have. There was nothing I that I couldn’t conjure up at home in my own artistic way, it was a craft and it truly set a spark of pure passion within.

Art was my love and joy that I loyally chose throughout my education, from secondary school right through to studying Fine Art in my hometown, at the University Arts London (UAL). It was during my years as an art student that I really discovered my signature style as an artist and illustrator. However, after completing my degree, I found myself succumb to the pressures of the real world, where it all became about adult responsibilities.

I decided to call it quits on my passion and instead pursue the real estate world as an estate agent in London. I was a budding artist with a master plan, which was to save enough money to hit my financial goals so that I could pursue my art once again without worrying about financial pressures. Safe to say, the plan didn’t quite go to plan…10 years passed, financial goals were hit but the master plan was not. Truth be told, there always seemed to be a reason not to pick up my paintbrush again.

This is where I believe the universe had a bigger plan and made my passion my saviour. It was in 2019 when life took a turn and I found myself in a toxic and abusive relationship. I was at breaking point, and I needed an escape. My love for art reawakened as I found myself falling in love with sketching once again.

The more time I dedicated to my art, the more my personal and artistic confidence grew, which led me to then start sharing my designs on a global platform. Little did I know, I would receive my first commission within the first few weeks. It was my first project that would lead to many more, but the joy and fulfilment that I felt was beyond what I could have imagined.

2019 was the year that I left my career and my relationship. I was ready to pursue my art professionally. My book, 731 days pays homage to my journey which has been 2 years and 1 day. It is a beautiful collection of illustration and images that have cultivated my style, enhanced my confidence and expanded my skills as an artist. Each design speaks a memory dear to me as it reminds me of how far I have come and all I have yet to accomplish. Sometimes, it really is about stopping to take in the beauty of our present, because it was once the future we dreamed of.
